Art for Self-Care When Times

Self-care is so important – especially for entrepreneurs, and art-making is my favourite way to calm my mind and my nerves. Even a 5 minute doodling break, with no pressure and no expectation of results can be a great reset on a particularly stressful day, or a way to start your morning with some fun and creativity. I invite you to set aside an hour for this video workshop, grab whatever art supplies you have handy and try it out! 🖌️🎨 Ready to dive into the workshop? What to Do When the Banks Say No – Part 2

In the 90’s, my knitwear business was focused on wholesale. I had samples and I’d visit shops and take orders. It seemed like an easy-peasy business model at first; make product to order and get paid for it. What could go wrong? Here’s the rub: For September delivery, I would get the orders in May. As soon as the order came in, I’d be paying for yarn and labour to produce the order and then I’d pay to ship it in late August. And if I was lucky, I’d get paid in October. That’s six months or more I’m laying

This Book Changed EVERYTHING in my Business!

It was the mid-90s. I was deep in the hustle of my knitwear business, standing in my booth at the One-of-a-Kind Show. I was overworked, overwhelmed, and wondering if this was really what entrepreneurship was all about. Then a fellow exhibitor handed me a book. The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It by Michael E. Gerber. That subtitle stopped me in my tracks. “My small business doesn’t work,” I thought. “I mean, not really.” This book has sold over 5 million copies worldwide, been taught in over 100 universities, and translated into 29

What to Do When the Banks Say No

(This is part 1 of a 2 part series – Find part 2 here)   Creative Financing Options for Small Businesses When I started my first business back in the early ’90s, I didn’t go to a bank. I borrowed $600 from my roommate and put $200 worth of yarn on my credit card. That bought me a second-hand knitting machine and a few supplies. My knitwear business was officially born!  Lots and lots of hours spent on that machine! Of course, most businesses take a lot more capital than that to get started, and it doesn’t always make sense to

Money Workshops- Mindset, Clearing Blocks and Planning Investments in Your Business

Over the past few months, I partnered with Certified Core Energetics Practitioner and Money Witch Bryn Bamber to host a series of three workshops designed to help women entrepreneurs shift their relationship with money, make strategic financial decisions, and feel more confident about investing in their business. We’re now giving away access to the recordings for free! The workshops came out of a conversation, where we shared some of the issues that we saw our clients struggling with around money. We saw them holding back from making important investments in their businesses due to fear, old money blocks and a “personal

Monthly Review for Small Businesses: Staying on Course Despite Challenges

As November wraps up, it’s time for my monthly review. Did I stay on course with my plans? Honestly, nope. And guess what? That’s totally okay. Life has a way of throwing in unexpected side quests, and this month was no exception. I signed up for two amazing opportunities that required way more preparation than I anticipated. Add to that a bout of illness and some family and home responsibilities that needed attention, and suddenly, my carefully planned schedule took a backseat. But here’s the thing: tracking goals and reviewing your progress isn’t about perfection or beating yourself up when life
