I met Ann DeLuca a while back at a networking meeting, and she told me she was a Confidence Coach and had written a book called The Confidence Recipe.
It stuck with me because my confidence was in a bit of a slump at that time. After having taken a few years off for some major health and family stuff, I was not getting my coaching business back to where it was before my break. I knew it would take work, but a lot had changed in the entrepreneurial communities that I was a part of, and it very much felt like starting from scratch.
All this gave me a case of imposter syndrome – after all, what kind of business coach gets down because her business isn’t going great!?
“I know, I know”, I’d tell myself. “It takes time! You always want everything now!”
I’ve been through this so many times before with my businesses throughout the years. Whether it’s the start-up phase or growth, nothing ever comes fast enough for me.
And, like many entrepreneurs- try as I might to avoid this- I let that get tangled up in my self-worth, which pretty much sucks the fun out of everything.
I ordered Ann’s book, to see if it would help boost my confidence, which would help me get my head back in the game, and it really did!
In fact, I asked Ann to do some video interviews with me about confidence, because I KNOW I’m not alone in this.
Almost every single client of mine deals with some form of imposter syndrome in starting and growing their business.
The more I’m been thinking and learning about confidence, the more I feel it’s the secret key ingredient to an awesome life and business.
And talking to Ann inspires me to see it as something very much in my control. I can learn techniques and tools to build my confidence, and flip out of a low confidence mood to a higher one.
Think about all the ways more confidence would help you. Even a 10% boost in confidence would allow new actions, new risks, new conversations and new creativity!
And isn’t that where all the amazing things in life happen?
