3 Social Media Strategy Tips for Expanding Your Business

Francine Dick, a business coaching client of mine, is a passionate Certified Financial Planner here in the Roncesvalles neighbourhood. With over 20 years experience, Francine has a wealth of knowledge about financial planning.

She’s committed to helping women and families understand their money and get it working for them to fuel their dreams and make sure their future is secure.

As a business owner, Francine was ready to use social media to expand her network and meet lots of new potential clients, but she wasn’t sure what her next steps should be.

(Meet Francine! She’s awesome. You can check out her website here.)

Here’s what I suggested:

1. Communicate Brand Personality: As we talked in our first strategy session it was clear to me that Francine is genuine, patient and trustworthy. She is very rooted in the community and committed to volunteering. I wanted to make sure our plans included using social media posts in a way that showed off her personality in an authentic way.

2. Identify Brand Values: Over several sessions, we worked on fine-tuning her social media posts to make sure her core values and personality are always shining through. We saw what kind of posts engaged people and focused on the most effective ones.

3. Create Engagement: I also saw an opportunity for her to connect with people on a deeper level by having free in-person meet-ups about Money Management and then sharing about the sessions on social media.

Once we had these three action steps down, we created a content strategy that would feature a behind-the-scenes look at her business and use articles to position her as an expert in her field.

Francine says these tips helped her take her business to the next level, yielding immediate results and establishing her as a money expert. Her business is flourishing and she loves going to work every day.

Francine says:

As a financial and insurance advisor for 20 years I had gained knowledge and expertise in what I could offer my clients. People were attracted to my patience, understanding and non-judgemental approach.

Leaving a corporate job after 15 years and venturing out as an independent advisor proved to be challenging. I tried many approaches, some of which worked and some of which did not.

However, I found that I was scattered and had no focus, wasting both my time and talents. I had helped hundreds of families in the GTA. How could I reach out and help more?

Hiring Laura-Jean as my business coach was one of the best investments I have made.

She listened carefully to who I was and what I wanted my business to look like.

Her suggestions yielded immediate results as well as helping to establish me as the money expert people think of when they need financial or insurance advice.

Her expertise on social media provided focus (goodbye Twitter, hello Facebook video) and presence.

My business is flourishing and I can truly say I have a job I love, making money while I help people secure their future.”

Confidence – What a Game Changer!

I met Ann DeLuca a while back at a networking meeting, and she told me she was a Confidence Coach and had written a book called The Confidence Recipe. It stuck with me because my confidence was in a bit of a slump at that time. After having taken a few years off for some major health and family stuff, I was not getting my coaching business back to where it was before my break.
